In 1900, a stepped moving staircase exhibited at the Paris International Exposition served as the prototype for the modern escalator. Subsequently, escalators underwent rapid development across the globe.

 

The key parameters of an escalator include:
1. Lifting Height: Typically within 10 meters, though in special cases, it can reach up to several tens of meters.
2. Inclination Angle: Generally 30° or 35°.
3. Speed: Typically 0.5 meters per second; certain models can reach speeds of 0.65 meters per second or 0.75 meters per second.
4. Step Width: 600 mm, 800 mm, or 1000 mm.
5. Theoretical Conveying Capacity: Based on a speed of 0.5 meters per second, the conveying capacities for the different step widths are 4,500 persons/hour, 6,750 persons/hour, and 9,000 persons/hour, respectively.
