What is a small passenger elevator?
Small passenger elevators are specially designed for low-rise buildings (such as private residences, villas, duplex apartments, small office buildings, hotels, etc.), with relatively small load capacity and shaft dimensions. It offers the same level of safety and comfort as traditional large commercial elevators, but has more advantages in terms of size, design and installation flexibility. It has similarities with "home elevators" or "villa elevators", but has a wider range of applications.

The main features of small passenger lift
Load capacity and capacity
The load capacity is usually between 250kg and 400kg.
It can carry 3 to 5 people, and the common ones are 3 people (225kg) or 4 people (320kg).
Speed
The speed is relatively slow, generally ranging from 0.2m /s to 0.4m /s, to ensure smooth operation and low noise, making it very suitable for home environments.
Elevator shaft dimensions
It is very compact, with the smallest shaft area reaching about 1 square meter, which can effectively utilize the residential space.
Driving mode (Core technology)
This is one of the most important decisions when choosing a home elevator, mainly divided into the following types:
Traction elevator
Advantages: Smooth operation, energy-saving, low noise, and mature technology (similar to commercial elevators).
Disadvantage: There are certain requirements for the height of the top layer and the depth of the bottom pit.
Subcategory:
Strong drive type: The motor is at the top and directly pulls the car through steel wire ropes. It has a simple structure but a relatively high power.
Gantry frame type: The car is supported by guide rails on the rear or side walls of the elevator shaft, which is the most common structure.
Backpack type: The guide rail is located on one side of the car, as if "carrying" the guide rail. It has low requirements for the civil engineering of the elevator shaft, but there may be some shaking after long-term use.

Hydraulic elevator
Advantages: Strong load-bearing capacity, smooth operation, no need for a top-floor machine room.
Disadvantages: There is a risk of oil leakage, it is not environmentally friendly, has a relatively high power consumption, and the long-term usage and maintenance costs may increase.
Screw elevator
Advantages: No bottom pit, no requirement for a top-floor machine room, simple structure, extremely high safety (will not fall freely), and high space utilization.
Disadvantages: The operating speed is relatively slow, the noise is relatively high (depending on the brand and motor quality), and mechanical wear requires regular maintenance.
Winch (traction belt) elevator
Using high-strength polyester steel strips instead of traditional steel wire ropes makes the structure more compact.
It combines the smoothness of the traction type and the flexible installation advantages of the screw type
How to choose a small passenger elevator that suits you?
Determine the installation space
What are the clear width and clear depth of the reserved space for the elevator shaft dimensions?
Top floor height: The distance from the top of the elevator shaft to the completed surface of the floor slab.
Bottom pit depth: The depth to which the ground needs to be excavated downward. Screw type and pitless traction type can greatly reduce or eliminate the requirement for a pit.
Clarify the usage requirements
Capacity: Usually 3 to 4 people are sufficient for a family.
User: If there are wheelchair users, the size of the car (at least capable of accommodating wheelchair rotation), the opening method (side-opening doors save more space than middle-split doors), and barrier-free design should be taken into consideration.
Select the driving mode
There are sufficient bottom pits and top layer heights: The preferred type is the traction type, which offers high cost performance and a good experience.
No bottom pit, no top layer height limit: Screw type or bottomless pit traction type is preferred.
Pursuing ultimate smoothness and quietness: Both hydraulic and high-end traction types are good.
Consider the design and decoration style
Cabin decoration: Stainless steel, glass, wood, leather and other interior materials are available for selection.
Opening methods: middle branch door, side door, sliding door, etc.
Sightseeing and non-sightseeing: Sightseeing elevators (with glass shafts) can enhance the sense of spatial transparency and are very suitable for modern and minimalist style homes.
